I have come to note that of the most challenging issue that
affect job applicants involves drafting of a cover letter. Actually, quite a
large number draft it haphazardly without considering the correct format or the
criteria that need to be adopted and complied with.
At first, how can we define a cover letter? I can simply refer to it as introductory message that
strongly brings out distinctively
why you are suited for the aforementioned post over other potential candidates. It also brings out your capability
to communicate
efficiently and express yourself putting into consideration the
professional etiquette.
Some tips to identify and incorporate in a cover letter
include:
1. Indicate
the post that you are applying for;
ensure that you are specific
2. Clearly
explain what makes you to be the most
qualified for the job.
3. Display
your professional level in your
application.
4. It’s
good to ensure that the message you are passing is more inclined to the organization’s mission,
goals, vision and objectives.
5. Since
receiving a call or message for an interview is the culmination of this cover letter;
it would be good to make your cover letter
more appealing and convincing to induce such interview.
Furthermore, you need to note that your cover letter should
be comprised of three parts; that is the introduction, the body and conclusion.
1.
Introduction
Part
First explain on how you became aware of the post you are
applying for. This can either through an interview, a career fair, and
employer’s website or maybe through a colleague from the company.
2.
The
Body part
In this critical part, talk about what you are bringing to
the company in terms of your skills and experience in a brief way. Explain the
areas in which your strengths lie and how you can utilize them.
3.
Closing
part
As you conclude you can indicate that you will be expecting
a response from the employer-to be for consideration. You can show that you are
committed to applying the post by stating clearly that you will be checking
regularly to get to know how the application and assessment process is fairing
on.
In the instance you are drafting applications in different
organizations avoid creating a standard
cover letter for all. This is
because each organization has its own core value, objectives, mission and
vision that may not in line with what your cover letter may actually reflect.
You should also avoid
talking too much about yourself; stress more on what you are bringing in to the
organization that would ultimately result to its consistent growth. With
these factor put into place, your cover letter would be ready to convince that
human resource manager or operation manager for that aforementioned post!
