THE COMPLETE ART OF GIVING

As I was contemplating on how the aspect of giving can actually transform the lives of people, nowadays it is apparent many individuals require such sort of help. In the business context, giving back to the society actually ends up creating a good reputation and the image is restored. This makes the society feel as part and parcel of the business fraternity.

What are some of the motives for giving? You will understand that some people give out so that their presence can be recognized, others would want to claim fame through their “generosity’’ acts whereas others give out wholeheartedly without expecting anything in return. Actually, when you decide to give to the society or individuals for the core purpose of improving the life of the receiver ceteris peribus, this actually transforms into a blessing on your side.

I am indeed impressed by the Nairobi Standard Chartered Marathon initiative which its 13th edition is bound to take place in a fortnight. The project with the community initiative of “Seeing is believing” has been on the forefront trying to raise money to facilitate the needs of the less fortunate in the society and especially those who experience sight problems. This is actually a good example of the art of giving. A leader who comes out and supports such initiatives with a good motive gives an explicit example that can be emulated.

As youths in colleges and universities or any learning institutions, there are quite a number of activities that we can engage and transform the society in an immense way.  I remember while at the campus, we could dedicate our time as a group and visit different Children homes, carry with us the little things we had to give them. We could spend our time with them, encourage them to strive in achieving their dreams and this actually made them feel the worthiness of life and determined to achieve to their level best.

I believe there are many other sorts of giving that you can do such as giving some affectionate, encouragement, you can even donate blood freely to someone in urgent need of it .Furthermore, and the most important thing above all is giving your time to improve another person’s life.

Martha Teresa once said “It is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving”. If you can do the aforementioned, you will always have night repose and a sense of achievement each time the sun shows it red ember as it slowly sets down!
