Sometimes when I envision the kind
of leadership that is explicitly displayed in our contemporary society, I feel
that in some instance we are deprived of the exceptional qualities expected
from them. Actually, this has been a prevalent case especially in the political
arena where quite a number give ‘empty’ promises once they are vying for the
imminent posts, only to become oblivious once voted in and even dissociate
themselves from those who acted as “stepping stones” for them to be in their
current or intermediate positions.
From my own understanding and in-depth insight,
a leader is a person who is ready to serve willingly and diligently his or her
followers and distinctively provide an exemplary leadership that can be
emulated. A leader is someone who is ready to associate with the followers,
listen to their demands and come up with effective, concrete decisions that can
help solve any arising issue in a satisfactory way.
One outstanding leader of all times
was Mahatma Gandhi from India. He was indeed a transformational and a
futuristic leader. Through his charismatic nature, he used his position as a
leader to inspire and motivate his followers thus making them become part of
his vision of bringing change and transformation in the country.
Interestingly, this incredibly
amazing leader absolutely led by example by even lowering his status to that of
many Indians who were living in abject poverty. This made it easier to
understand their feelings and boost their relationship and in the process they
felt the inner drive to tirelessly struggle to make their country a better
place. Mahatma Gandhi instilled a strong interconnected bond between him and
other Indians making them trust in themselves and change their perspectives to
a positive one and in unison this was a huge step towards achieving their long
yearning freedom.
Leaders who are ambitious in nature
with a strong clear vision actually depict a symbol of hope, motivation and
inspiration to their followers. As a leader come out full of self confidence
and express their ideas with utmost brevity, and demonstrating extraordinary
characters, this actually makes his or her followers see a bright future that
is bestowed for them.
This is the kind of leadership that is
required, a leadership that will be an embodiment to many. Are you such kind of
leader? This should be a self-reflection for you!
