William Bridges in his book “Transition: Making Sense of
Life’s Changes “outlines that throughout nature, growth involves
periodic acceleration and transformation. Things tend to move at a slower pace
and nothing seems to change; it is just like an instant in the wind. He further
states, “…Until suddenly, the eggshell cracks, the branch blossoms, the
tadpole’s tail shrinks away, the leaf falls, the bird molts, the hibernation
period begins. With us it is the same. Although the signs are less clear than
in the world of feather and leaf, the functions of transition times are the
same.”
What I have actually come to distinctively understand is
that life is a series of transitional changes that as individuals we have to
cope with them. Actually, change is inevitable. For instance, it is clear that
once you are done with a certain level of education, your body system has to
embrace and respond to rapid changes bound to occur on the next level of your
study.
Furthermore, for those who are in college or universities,
it is apparent that as you wind up your curriculum, you should be prepared to
face the corporate world prior to your finishing. The swifter you adjust to the
change the better as this will give you a well-stipulated platform to settle
and focus on achieving your potential dreams.
One interesting thing you will come to discover is that
through change, you will be able to unleash the potential that is within you,
unravel what you are capable of achieving and more so get to know your
strengths that can only come out through adopting to change. For instance, you
may have received a promotion at the place of your work; this consequentially
is accompanied with a hefty bonus package that actually improves your
lifestyle.
In addition,, it’s factual that to whom much is given, much
is demanded. This indeed implies that your cycle of life will undergo
transformational change due to the responsibilities you are bound to undertake.
Actually, the way you tackle that change will prove your prowess and give a
clear picture that you were indeed prepared for that transition.
Thus if you can have the competent skills to fully cope with
the prevailing new situation, then you can confidently and diligently handle
any upcoming issue related to change. It is through change that we are molded
to become the better people in the imminently approaching future. This is a
question I would love to pose to you; if your life is a series of transition,
why not prepare and be ready to courageously face it? Heroes were made when
they opted to dissociate themselves from common life path to give change a
priority!
