While attending a certain
motivational talk by one of the most renowned writers in Africa, I was alarmed
on how his life had absolutely transformed from his past state to the current
one. While giving his talk, he pointed described his journey to achieving the
ultimate success, a story that he was willing to share with others and inspire
them. This motivational speaker who is now a CEO of a successful company
explained on how he started small and in due time, he was able to rise up the
corporate ladder to become a CEO.
We are living in a modern society
where there struggle is real, right? Only those who chose to overcome the
impediments along the way will ultimately vanquish. The number of students who
graduate each year is overly increasing each day and this may probably be
inversely proportional to the ‘better opportunities’ that are available.
Meanwhile, as a graduate, sometimes it is not wise to be too presumptuous to a
point that you may overshadow some job positions, with the expectation of
landing abruptly into a more senior position. I believe that taking one step at
a time will not only enrich you with immense experience but also give you a
reason to learn and understand what happens at the lower levels of an
institution.
What am I actually driving at? This
is the point; in whatever you want to accomplish or achieve, you absolutely
have to start somewhere. For you to become the best CEO, the most successful entrepreneur,
the best innovator of all times, you need to pick up from a particular point,
the starting point, that will continuously help you to rise up to the pinnacle
of your success. Ideas without action will always be void, isn’t it? The first
bold action that you take by starting from somewhere can absolutely transform
your life. Believe me on that!
Apparently, once you start to work
on something, you will be surprised on how miraculously it can become a
breakthrough to your success both careerwise or in business. Anthony Robbins
once said “The path to success is to take massive, determined action.” This
action of starting from somewhere will in turn steer you to the ultimate destination
that you intend to reach.
It is clear that those great people
that you always wish to be like them started from somewhere; these includes the
likes of Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs among other entrepreneurs,
innovators and other businesspeople. They actually started small, overcome the
obstacles on their ways, staying committed to their purposed goals and
ultimately achieved them. The first step that you take in engaging your mind
and body into action, that is when great transformation comes around; the
things that you have always yearned to achieve will start appearing quite
achievable.
Sometimes people say that favorable
opportunities do not present themselves before us. In some case, this might
appear to be partially true though this should not be an excuse of not taking a
step or starting somewhere. Actually, when opportunities don’t show up, it is
up to you to go and get them. In most cases, that bold step will always work perfectly
well. Additionally, you need to understand that using what you possess is
enough to make you achieve what you want to.
Something that you don’t have
should not be an inhibiting factor that can make you not to pursue your goals
by not taking any action. In a simple statement, use your qualifications and
experience to sell yourself out or to start an innovative product. With time
you will realize that you will have a lot of stuff to learn and upgrade yourself!
Clearly stating, I can say that taking an initiative of doing what you love,
using the available resources and qualifications that you possess will move you
to great destinations; destinations that you have never imagined of!
Dr. Stephen Covey, an American educator,
keynote speaker, a businessman and an author once said, “Every human has four
endowments-self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative
imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom…the power to choose, to
respond, and to change.” Once you opt to change your destiny by taking a
well-strategized step, your creative mind will help you choose what is best for
you. As one prominent author stated that a static mind ultimately results to
obsolescence, you should not let yourself edge to that point.
One thing that I clearly understand
is that being at a point where you are doing absolutely nothing for your life
clearly implies that you will not get to know whether you are progressing or
not. Just like the man who was given a talent and opted to do nothing with it,
that talent can be eventually be taken if it is not put task. This is the main
point; just as you have been endowed with amazing talents and skills to improve
your life, it is distinctively essential to use what you possess. This will
make more blessings to come your way.
Another thing; you cannot control
the natural setting which surrounds you but you can have the power to control
what you were destined for. How can this be made possible? Through creating
favorable situations and conditions that best suits you and start walking on
your path to success. Do you know why some people always get ahead? It is
simply because they choose to prompt into action and do what is required more
and more each time an opportunity arises. You can also become such kind of
person if you choose not to idle around but take an initiative of starting
somewhere.
Let me conclude by sharing this
amazing quote from Napoleon Hill, “Do not wait: the time will never be ‘just
right’. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at
your command, and better tools will be found as long as you go along”. It is
pretty simple as that! Think over it on weekend as you strategize on how to
work it out!
